2013-2014 Business Technology Association Officer Election

Each year, the dealer members of the Business Technology Association elect several volunteers to serve as officers at the district and national levels. One volunteer from each district is appointed to serve on the national BTA Board of Directors alongside the national officer team. The annual term is July 1 through June 30. A total of eight individuals serve on the national board, setting policy for the association and providing guidance on the development of member programs. The board members meet in person two to three times each year and otherwise meet via a conference call each month.

Todd J. Fitzsimons, director of business development at Network Imaging LLC, Southington, Conn., will serve as 2013-2014 BTA national president. Fitzsimons began his career in the document solutions industry in 1989 working for a local Canon dealership. In 1991, he joined Hallet and Co. as sales manager. In 1997, he purchased the dealership and shortly after changed the name to Network Imaging LLC. In January 2013, he merged Network Imaging with Automated Business Solutions of Rhode Island. The 54-year-old dealership sells Sharp, Kyocera, Lexmark and Muratec and also offers document management, network services and mailing solutions. The company's territory covers Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Fitzsimons, who was named BTA's Volunteer of the Year in 2011, currently serves as BTA's national president-elect.

Mike Boyle, president of Base Technologies, Bethel, Conn., will serve as 2013-2014 BTA East president. He began his career in 1979 at Burroughs Corp., which eventually became Fujitsu. Boyle has worked in variety of sales and marketing capacities, which concluded with him as national sales manager. He started Base Technologies in 1992. The company primarily represents Kyocera, Muratec and OKI, and serves Connecticut, New York and western Massachusetts. In addition, Base Technologies has launched a successful MPS business model in its servicing area. Boyle currently serves as BTA East president-elect.

Rob Richardson, owner and founder of Allied Document Solutions & Services (ads-s), will serve as 2013-2014 BTA East immediate past president. This year marks his 19th year leading the company, which is located in Swedesboro, N.J. A laser printer-centric organization, his dealership leads with Hewlett-Packard (HP) products and it has attained the elite status of Managed Print Advanced Specialist with HP. Richardson also sits on the HP Partner Advisory Council. ads-s is also authorized to sell and service Toshiba branded copier/MFPs in its region. Over the last five years, Richardson has complimented the company's current product offerings of printer services and supplies with a managed print services solution. He currently serves as BTA East president.

Following are brief profiles of the national officer candidates and BTA East candidates. At the bottom of this page is a link to an online ballot. BTA appreciates your willingness to cast your vote in this election process.

National President-Elect: Ron Hulett
Ron Hulett is president and CEO of U.S. Business Systems Inc., located in Elkhart, Ind. Hulett formed the company in 1992 with three business partners, after he worked for a short time at another independent dealership. His dealership has since grown into a two-facility business with 30 employees. The $4 million-plus dealership serves northern Indiana and southern Michigan. It represents Kyocera, Lanier and Sharp, and sells and supports many different office technology products as well as workflow and document management software. Hulett, who was named BTA's Volunteer of the Year in 2012, currently serves as BTA's national vice president.

National Vice President: Dave Quint
Dave Quint is president and CEO of Advanced Systems Inc., located in Waterloo, Iowa. Advanced Systems Inc. is a 55-year-old corporation that now includes eight offices covering a large part of northern and eastern Iowa, overlapping into Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and South Dakota. The dealership's primary manufacturers are Canon and Lexmark, and the company also offers document management and managed print solutions. Quint started with Advanced Systems Inc. in 1989 as a territory sales associate and has held various sales and management positions throughout his career with the company. Quint currently serves as president of BTA Mid-America.

BTA East District President-Elect: Greg Gondek
Greg Gondek is the president of Advanced Copy Technologies Inc., located in Cromwell, Conn. He has held this position for the past 14 years, during which the company has grown an average of 20 percent per year. Prior to this position, he was the New England Regional Manager overseeing the direct sales operations for an office equipment manufacturer. With more than 30 years of outstanding achievements in this fast-paced industry, he has been featured in Selling Magazine and Professional Selling magazine and was one of the model subjects for the book "Superstar Sales Managers Secrets" by Barry Farber. His focus on providing the right solutions for clients has kept him at the forefront of the latest trends in his industry along with the challenges that clients face when implementing new technology into their organizations.

BTA East District Vice President: Jim Donnellon
Jim Donnellon is the president and owner of ABS Business Products Inc., a Sharp and Toshiba dealership with locations in Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio. He is also president and owner of Donnellon McCarthy Enterprises Inc., a Canon and Savin dealership purchased in December 2012 with locations in Cincinnati, Dayton and Lima, Ohio. Donnellon has been in the office technology industry since 1975, when he joined Donnellon McCarthy Inc. He is a member of several organizations, including the IBPI Board of Directors, Cincinnati Rotary Club, ATP Professional Tennis Tournament, Marvin Lewis Foundation, Kicks for Kids Foundation, Parent Project Foundation/Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, St. Vincent DePaul Society Foundation and the Grant C. Alexander Scholarship Foundation.

BTA East District Secretary/Treasurer: Tim Seeley Jr.
Tim Seeley Jr. is the vice president of sales at Seeley Office Systems, located in Glens Falls, N.Y. Seeley has been a part of the family business for six years and is part of the second-generation team, with his primary responsibilities in sales. The 32-year-old dealership covers three counties in upstate New York. Its primary product lines are Konica Minolta and Muratec, and it also sells a full line of office supplies. Seeley is a member and board member of his local rotary club. He also serves on the board of the Charles Wood Theatre, a local community theater.

BTA East District Board Member: Don Risser
Don Risser is the vice president and partner at Advanced Laser Printer Service & Supplies Inc. (ALPS), located in Emigsville, Pa. The company has nine employees, more than 500 accounts and more than 4,000 active devices. It manages approximately 4 million pages per month under its MPS programs and it sells and services HP, Fujitsu, Lexmark, Toshiba, Xerox and Zebra products. It also provides authorized service for Lexmark, Toshiba and Xerox products. Risser has 17 years in the office technology industry — five years as a service manager and 12 years as vice president and partner at ALPS. He is responsible for all development and implementation of new strategies, and has created a unique process for managed document services in his business, as well as built a cost calculator and assessment database. He currently serves as chairman and a board member of the company's vendor relations committee in its buying group.
