The ProCopy Foundation, the non-profit arm of BTA member ProCopy Office Solutions is hosting its sixth-annual golf event in early May.

The 6th Annual ProCopy Foundation Gary S. Clancy Memorial Golf Classic is taking place on Friday, May 6, at the Arizona Grand Resort in Phoenix, Arizona. Clancy was the president of Uni-Copy from 1973 to 1993 when the company was sold. He was a legend in the office technology community and a huge supporter of both the youth of the Valley and all things ASU.

Both the founder and president of ProCopy began their careers at Uni-Copy in the early 1980s and consider Clancy a mentor in many ways.

"I personally learned more about doing the right thing, giving back and 'paying it forward' from Gary than from anyone I ever worked with," said Mike McGuirk, president, ProCopy. "Establishing a scholarship in his name at ASU, a place he loved and supported, seemed like the perfect way to honor him. With the rising cost of college tuition, so many families could use the help and we are proud to be a part of way to give back."

What makes the scholarship so unique is that it is designed to be won by someone in the office technology industry and no one connected to ProCopy is eligible. This means ProCopy is awarding the families of its competitors in an industry known for cutthroat competition.

"This industry has been good to us and we felt like, for one day, we can come together in the spirit of goodwill that defined Clancy and simply support a family in need," said Tim Stevenson, founder, ProCopy.

The scholarship reached endowment status through the ASU Foundation in 2012, which means it will live on in perpetuity. It now resides in the WP Carey School of Business. The ProCopy Foundation will continue to raise money each year to keep the amount awarded growing. So far, more than $100,000 has been raised by the ProCopy Foundation.

In addition, for the past several years The ProCopy Foundation has supported two other charities that support youth and families. In the past, the event has supported groups like the Grand Canyon State Games, the 100 Club of Phoenix, CASS.PCH, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Boys & Girls Club, to name a few. This year, for the second time, the event will support Child Crisis Arizona, which supports the most vulnerable children in the state. In addition, ProCopy will be supporting The Jillian Fund, a charity that supports the parents of critically ill children. The Jillian Fund believes that children facing life-threatening illnesses should never face them alone and is dedicated to uniting families in need during their most critical times. In addition, MWA Intelligence Inc. (MWAi) is sponsoring a nationwide motorcycle ride for The Jillian Fund over Memorial Day weekend from Arizona to Washington, D.C. Monies raised from the golf event will be added to monies raised from the ride, of which 100 percent goes directly to the charity.

Many great companies have signed on as sponsors including: the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, Ricoh, Canon, Wells Fargo, US Bank, EverBank, the Thunderbirds and MWAi.
