Ricoh Unveils New Color Wide-Format Solution
Monday, August 08, 2016
Ricoh USA Inc. has unveiled its latest color wide-format device to help architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) firms capture, transform and manage information quickly and simply. The compact RICOH MP CW2201SP makes sharing wide-format technical drawings, schematics, presentations and other information easier than ever.
In today's new world of work, AEC collaborators need to be able to share information across multiple locations — offices and work sites — efficiently. That includes the ability to walk up and use collaboration tools without the need for extensive training or scrolling through long lists of underused options. The RICOH MP CW2201SP's improved user interface, in the form of Ricoh's next-generation Smart Operation Panel, was designed with a focus on how these users actually interact with the device.
Among the ways this Workstyle Innovation Technology facilitates speed and ease of use are the automatic, customizable surfacing of frequently used functions; driverless near-field communication (NFC) printing and sharing from mobile devices; and preconfigured print settings for the kinds of specialized documents these firms use. This speed does not come at the cost of security; built-in user authentication and encryption features work to make sure only authorized users can send and access appropriate information while helping ensure they can do so with ease.
"AEC firms are busy," said John Fulena, vice president of the Production Printing Business Group, Ricoh USA Inc. "They don't have time for extensive device training or scrolling past tons of features that, while often helpful, aren't what they need. That's why we designed the user experience for the RICOH MP CW2201SP to be as swift and smooth as possible. Whether your collaborators are down the hall or across an ocean, this device makes it so they see what you see, as soon as they need to see it."
While the RICOH MP CW2201SP occupies a small physical footprint, its reach throughout an organization is immense. With the ability to securely scan documents directly to a variety of destinations, including USB, SD card, email, folders, URL, FTP and document servers, this device helps ensure all collaborators are on the same page quickly. And when those collaborators need to be literally on the same page, high-quality, 1,200-by-1,200-dpi printing produces color pages at a rate of 2.1 ppm, twice as fast as its predecessor. The RICOH MP CW2201SP's specialized printhead configuration improves print quality and significantly enhances print productivity — by 190 percent for color and 119 percent for black-and-white pages. That level of quality and precision also means less need for reprints, further saving time and resources.
