The Cannata Report's 2017 Awards & Charities Dinner Reaches $2-Million Milestone

During its 32nd Annual Awards & Charities Dinner, held Nov. 2 at The Madison Hotel in Morristown, New Jersey, The Cannata Report raised and pledged $175,000 to benefit Hackensack Meridian Health — John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center. To date, the Cannata Dinner has raised more than $2.2 million for numerous charities nationwide, including more than $500,000 for Hackensack Meridian Health.

Konica Minolta and Toshiba dominated the evening with multiple Frank Award wins. Rick Taylor, president and CEO of Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Inc. achieved a landmark by winning Best Male Executive for the 11th time. Moreover, Konica Minolta won three Frank Awards, setting a record for the most wins ever by a single company. Laura Blackmer, senior vice president of sales for Sharp Electronics, also set a record by winning Best Female Executive for the third year in a row. Blackmer is the only executive to win this award since its introduction in 2015.

New York Giants XLII Super Bowl champion Antonio Pierce served as keynote speaker and auctioneer, assisting with the sale of New York Giants-signed memorabilia from Eli Manning and Phil Simms, as well as Giants tickets.

Winners of the 2017 Frank Awards are determined by a survey of the independent dealer community sponsored by EverBank. In addition to the awards for Taylor and Blackmer, Frank Awards were bestowed in the following categories:
  • Best-in-Class Manufacturer: Toshiba America Business Solutions
  • Best Software & Services Provider: ACDI
  • Best Production Print Manufacturer: Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Inc.
  • Best Leasing Company: GreatAmerica Financial Services Corp.
  • Best Marketing Strategy: Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Inc.
  • Best A4 MFP Manufacturer: Lexmark International
  • Best A3 MFP Manufacturer: Toshiba America Business Solutions
A special Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Robert C. Goldberg, general counsel of the Business Technology Association and emcee of the Cannata Dinner for many years. Goldberg is renowned in the imaging industry as "the dealer's attorney and best friend."

Recipients expressed thanks for their Frank Awards:

In addition to raising funds for the John Theurer Cancer Center, The Cannata Report garnered pledges at the event to support Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon Inc. and Camp4Heroes. To date, The Cannata Report has raised $27,000 toward its goal of $40,000 for the camp in Fairmont, North Carolina, that serves wounded and recovering veterans.

The Cannata Report's 32 Annual Awards & Charities Dinner was officially sponsored by Clover Imaging Group, Hytec Dealer Services and PSIGEN Software. In association with the event, The Cannata Report hosted a Women Influencers brunch on Nov. 3, sponsored by ESP AMETEK to spotlight its recently published issue.

Cannata, president and CEO, and CJ Cannata, executive vice president and publisher. "We are fortunate to celebrate our 35th anniversary with such a tremendous event."
