Canon U.S.A. Inc. has launched its third-generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE second edition lineup, a refresh of the three-time BLI Line of the Year award-winning platform.

"We have a clear vision to support the office of the future, as evident through the refresh of our imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform," said Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. Inc. "Our goal is to leverage our strong technology and relationships to help organizations transform their workflow processes into ones that can better support employee flexibility, while simultaneously helping to protect confidential information."

The imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform refresh features newly standard security capabilities to better support the office of the future. The models will offer cloud-based functionality, including authentication, dashboard reporting and basic scan-to- cloud features when activated. It will additionally afford clients the capability to add additional cloud-based features that come to market from Canon and its partners in the future.

In the world of IoT, security risks are increasing in the evolving workplace — and now more than ever, it is imperative that businesses have procedures to help protect their confidential information.

The third-generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE second edition lineup incorporates four key security features as standard that were previously optional: Encrypted Secure Print, Secure Watermark, Encrypted PDF and Device Digital Signature PDF functionality to help with security surrounding your information.

IT decision makers are challenged in figuring out how to better protect and manage their data, with 68 percent of those surveyed stating that boosting profitability and productivity will be the key benefit of cloud's role in transforming business processes over the next two to five years. The new imageRUNNER ADVANCE models incorporate cloud authentication and security features at the MFP level for this reason. In the future, Canon plans to continue to offer technologies that can help users automate and streamline their future workspace.

The third generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE second edition models will soon be available through Canon authorized dealer channels, beginning with the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C3500 II Series and the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C356iF II Series 3.

In other news, Canon U.S.A. Inc. has announced a refresh to three imageCLASS printers. The models, which include the black-and-white multifunction MF525dw and MF429dw, as well as the black-and-white single-function LBP215dw, continue to improve on Canon's current desktop-level, low-maintenance imageCLASS printer lineup.

"The new imageCLASS models will enhance the ability for our dealer partners to leverage inherent advantages of an all-Canon device fleet in the office of the future,” Kuwamura said. "We believe their customers will find the models to be particularly impactful when connected within a uniFLOW environment."

The latest imageCLASS models, along with the imageRUNNER ADVANCE solutions, offer customers a coherent, consistent fleet that brings the flexibility needed in the modern workplace to the employee, and supports Canon's vision for the office of the future. In addition to support for server-based uniFLOW, all three models will offer support for uniFLOW Online, providing dealers and end users the ability to leverage cloud-based authentication, highly secure document printing and highly secure mobile printing with imageCLASS printers. The models also support Canon's Application Library device platform, which enables an administrator to create one-touch device shortcuts to help simplify daily tasks like scanning and forms printing.
