The 140th webinar in BTA's Building My Business Webinar Series is scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Aug. 22. "State of the Industry: What Color is the Sky in Your World?" will be led by West McDonald, vice president of development at Tigerpaw Software, and Greg Walters, creator of ArcDrive.

In this webinar, McDonald and Walters will discuss the current state of the imaging channel, as well as its future. They will explore many of the pressures facing our industry, as well as dive into just how realistic (or unrealistic) managed IT services is to drive the industry forward. The webinar will address three areas:
  • Imaging channel consolidation: Data collection agents, dealers (and mega dealers), Staples/DEX and Xerox/Global
  • Managed print services (MPS): Where did it go? Is there a future? How do you navigate the next phase?
  • Managed IT services: Consolidation pressure — is it a panacea? What worked and what did not work.
McDonald is the vice president of business development at Tigerpaw Software and a bonafide business-convergence enthusiast. He is a respected thought leader, two-time recipient of an ENX Difference Maker award and a "Top 40 Most Influential People in the Imaging Industry" awardee. McDonald spends his time helping office technology dealers and managed IT providers grow their businesses with converged service offerings.

With a career spanning three decades, Walters has helped organizations around the globe reduce costs by designing and implementing managed services and MPS practices. In 2013 and 2015, he was recognized as one of the "Top 40 Most Influential People in the Imaging Industry." Walters served as the president and executive board member of the Managed Print Services Association from its inception to 2014. He is a writer, blogger and speaker, as well as the founder of TheDeathOfTheCopier.com. Walters' 2014 book, "Death of the Copier," offers a summary of the early days of MPS and the not-so-distant future of the hard-copy industry. ArcDrive, a network appliance that helps scan, route, store, retrieve documents, manage output devices and enhance workflow, is his latest contribution to the imaging channel.
