Jan. 23 BTA Webinar to Focus on the Device-as-a-Service Billing Model

The 145th webinar in BTA's Building My Business Webinar Series is scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Jan. 23. "The Future of Imaging is 'Device as a Service'," will be led by Wes McArtor, president of NEXERA, a BEI Services Company.

The industry is changing. We all sense it, but few are acting as if they believe it is really happening. In this webinar, McArtor will first document the trend in declining volumes and why this is important. Second, he will document and discuss the trend in misplacing product; in a rush to do a feature/benefit sale, data indicates dealers are misplacing a significant percentage of products. Third, he will discuss how the combination of these trends are going to impact dealers. Because many units are, from installation, running fewer pages than would be optimum, the decline in print is going to start impacting margins — faster than most predict, McArtor believes. And, finally, he will discuss how the switch to a device-as-a-service billing model will soften the impact of these events and, in fact, help dealers make more money in the near term.

McArtor started his career as a service tech, rising to various senior-level service positions with Savin and Minolta before founding NEXERA (formerly BEI Services) in 1993. Since then, he has been providing independent dealers with an unbiased source for standards and nationwide comparative service reporting, saving them money along the way. McArtor's company now tracks millions of service calls on more than 4 million imaging devices around the world. He remains a familiar face and speaker at industry events such as ITEX and BPCA, BTA, EUG, CDA and SDG meetings.
