On Thursday, July 28, BTA member Datamax will raise money for local cancer prevention charity BIGGSteps with its inaugural copier drop. More than 100 people are expected to be on hand to witness the copier drop, which concludes the search for the Kansas City metro area's worst copier/MFP. At the time of the drop, Datamax will award the winning company a new Canon copier/MFP as its old copier is dropped from a 100-foot-high crane. In addition, Datamax is allowing participants to bring additional items to be dropped from the crane for monetary donations that will directly benefit BIGGSteps. Some items scheduled to be dropped are a small safe, a watermelon and big bag of feathers. Drops will take place at 1 and 4:30 p.m.

The event will be hosted at Datamax's Kansas City location at 8030 Flint, Building 26, Lenexa, Kansas 66214.

Why drop a copier/MFP from a 100-foot-tall crane? Datamax's sales team members always hear complaints about their new customers' old copier/MFPs. These new customers often ask to take a baseball bat to their old copier/MFPs or push them off their loading docks. These new customers complain about their old machines jamming constantly and they often have funny names for their old copier/MFPs. The most common name is "Bob Marley," because "it's always jammin'." Datamax has listened and it is giving one lucky company the chance to drop its old copier/MFP from a 100-foot-high crane and giving it a new Canon copier/MFP valued at $10,000 to replace it.

The Sean D. Biggs Memorial Foundation/BIGGSteps raises awareness of the causes and prevention of cancer; assists those affected by cancer; and supports cancer research. Consistent with the vision of Sean Biggs, BIGGSteps also funds collegiate scholarships for study abroad and in the fields of alternative energy and energy efficiency.
